§ 66-41. Creation; membership and terms.

  • There is hereby created the county planning commission which shall consist of seven members appointed by the board of commissioners in the following manner and for the following terms:

    (1)

    The board of commissioners shall nominate seven members to the planning commission who shall be residents of the county and who shall adequately reflect a geographic and economic cross section of the county.

    (2)

    The board of commissioners shall vote upon the nominations and appoint the seven members of the planning commission.

    (3)

    The planning commission members' initial appointments shall reflect the following:

    a.

    One-year appointments: two members.

    b.

    Two-year appointments: three members.

    c.

    Three-year appointments: two members.

    (4)

    After the initial terms, each member of the planning commission shall be appointed for a term of three years.

    (5)

    Each member shall serve until his successor has been appointed and taken office. Members of the planning commission shall be eligible to succeed themselves and may be removed for good cause.

    (6)

    Any member of the planning commission who does not attend two successive regularly scheduled meetings without reasonable cause shall be deemed to have resigned from the commission, and the board of commissioners shall accept nominations pursuant to subsection (1) of this section and appoint a new member.
