§ 58-31. Notification of public works director; inspection to determine suitability of access site; culverts.

  • All persons, prior to engaging in the harvesting of any timber, either logs or pulpwood, in the county, are required to notify the public works director, or his designee, in person or by telephone, and provide the following information:

    (1)

    The name of the person about to engage in the harvesting operation;

    (2)

    The mailing address and telephone number of the harvesting entity;

    (3)

    The name of the foreman or supervisor personally in charge of the harvesting operation;

    (4)

    The name of the landowner where the harvesting operation is to take place;

    (5)

    The access points (within a reasonable area of operation) to a public county road from the lands on which the harvesting is to take place; and

    (6)

    The date on which the harvesting operation will commence and the anticipated duration of the operation.

    The public works director, or his designee, shall inspect the access site to the public county road and shall determine its suitability and if a culvert is required at the point of access to the county right-of-way, together with the size and length thereof, if needed. The culvert must be installed by the harvesting person under the supervision of the public works director or his designee.
