§ 26-157. Creation; membership and terms.

There is hereby created the Keep Screven Beautiful Commission (herein, the "commission") which shall consist of seven members appointed by the board of commissioners in the following manner and for the following terms:

(1)

The board of commissioners shall appoint nine members to the commission who shall be residents of the county and who shall adequately reflect a geographic and economic cross section of the county.

(2)

The commission members' initial appointments shall reflect the following:

a.

One-year appointments: two members.

b.

Two-year appointments: four members.

c.

Three-year appointments: three members.

(3)

After the initial terms, each member of the commission shall be appointed for a term of three years.

(4)

Each member shall serve until his successor has been appointed and taken office. Members of the commission shall be eligible to succeed themselves and may be removed for good cause.

(5)

Any member of the commission who does not attend two-thirds of regularly scheduled meetings over a twelve-month period without reasonable cause shall be deemed to have resigned from the commission and the board of commissioners shall appoint a replacement pursuant to subsection (1) of this section.

(6)

The following shall serve as ex officio members of the commission by virtue of the office or position held: chairman of board of commissioners (or designate); county solid waste superintendent; mayor of the City of Sylvania (or designate); mayor of City of Oliver (or designate); mayor of City of Hiltonia (or designate); mayor of City of Rocky Ford (or designate); and mayor of City of Newington (or designate).
